G5 lecture given at school

In connection with Grade 5 UOI : Where we are in place and time, a staff member working at the Okinawa Churashima Foundation’s Maritime Culture Museum gave an online lecture to Grade 5 students on the topic of “Exploration and Voyaging”.

During the lecture, the staff taught the history and techniques of how Muslim merchants, Europeans, and people of the Pacific Ocean have navigated in an easy-to-understand manner. We learned about people who set out on expeditions based on the movements of birds, winds, and clouds in an age when there were no compasses or maps, and we also learned about the history of navigation in Okinawa and its impact on the region. It was a very valuable time.

Thank you to everyone at the Churashima Foundation!
