Special Exhibition for Okinawa Memorial Day

OIS library held a special photo exhibition ‘Okinawa de senso ga atta / Our island was a battlefield’ at the 1st floor in Nanjo Campus from June 19th to June 26th.

Photo panels showing the battle of Okinawa were displayed and some books related to conflicts and peace are available in the Elementary library.

There were some students puzzled with the monochrome photos, but another student discussed with friends about what they’re looking at, and the other student repeatedly came back to the panels and gazed at the photos during the week.

We hope the students will start to think about world peace as well as the history of the community by knowing the battle which occurred on this island.

We appreciate Tamagusuku Community Center and Tamagusuku Public Library for the great support by lending the photo panels and books.

(The books about conflict and peace are still available until July 10th)
